Srinagar: Vigilance Organization Kashmir (VOK) has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act against officers/officials of SMC Srinagar into the allegations that one Saleema w/o Gh. Nabi Malik R/o Manderbagh under the patronage of officers/officials of SMC has raised an illegal construction of a commercial complex within the residential area of Mandirbagh Srinagar.
The case was registered following a Joint Surprise Check conducted by a team of VOK which revealed that a 16 RCC column on the area of 34X68.6 Sq Feet upto height of 10 feet from the ground level including plinth beams was illegally raised by Saleema w/o Gh. Nabi Malik R/o Maniderbagh without following building norms in the said area without proper permission from concerned Municipal Authorities. The concerned officers/officials of Municipal Corporation namely Shri Bilal Ahmad Baba S/o Wali Mohammad Baba R/o H. No. 6 BK Pora Ward Officer and Bashir Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Ahmad R/o Nawakadal then Building Inspector of Municipal Ward No. 5 and Mohmmad Ashraf Warsi S/o Faqeer Ghulam Ahmad R/o Baghi Sunder Payeen Chattabal then Enforcement Officer of SMC of the said area in active knowledge and aid by way of abusing their official positions, in league with each other along with the beneficiary willfully allowed to raise said illegal construction in violation of the rules and norms. Accordingly Case FIR No.13/2016 under section 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act and sections 120-B RPC in Police Station Vigilance Organisation Kashmir was registered against officers/officials of SMC Srinagar.
It is pertinent to mention that during year 2015- 16 VOK has registered 04 cases against the officers/ officials of SMC for indulging in corrupt practices, besides the Organization has recommended departmental actions against the delinquent public servants of the corporation for their involvement/misuse of their official positions in number of such matters.
