Mouldy bread seized from City’s prominent bakery outlet

SRINAGAR: Amid concerns over presence of cancerous components in breads, the officials of Food and Drug Control Department on Wednesday seized mouldy bread from a prominent bakery outlet of City here.

Reports informed GNS that an official team after receiving a complaint raided Ahdoos Bakery at Residency Road in Lal Chowk this afternoon. The official team asked the outlet employees to show bread that was being sold to people and it was found that the bread was being sold with fungus grown inside it.

Also, the reports said, there was no manufacture date, expiry date and price mentioned on the packets of the bread which is also violation of Food laws. The reports said that the bread was apparently stored for long time and was being sold without any check by the employees of the outlet.

An official of the Food and Drug Control Department while confirming the raid to the GNS said that they have lifted the bread samples and also wasted all mouldy bread from the outlet.  (GNS)
