BSRINAGAR: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, today chaired an officers meeting to review the status of World Bank funded Jhelum, Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP).
The project is aimed at restoring critical infrastructure damaged in 2014-floods besides reconstruction of flood damaged roads and bridges, urban flood management infrastructure, strengthening of livelihood, disaster management capacity and reconstruction and renovation of storm water pump stations.
During the meeting it was given out that the project will be implemented at the cost of Rs 1500crores. The Minister directed the concerned officials to furnish the project proposals by May 16, 2016 so that work on the project can be started soon.
He told the officials to duly assign priority to works according to their flood damage assessment so that they would be taken up according to the importance.
On the occasion, Bukhari asked the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) officials to work in coordination with ERA, UEED and Irrigation & Flood Control departments for avoiding any discrepancy in implementing the project.
