‘Licenses of dealers indulging in black marketing to be cancelled’

JAMMU- Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today issued strict instructions for cancellation of licenses of those dealers who will be caught black marketing the ration in their stores.

The Minister issued these directions while chairing a review meeting of the officers of the Department here today.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner Secretary CAPD, Shafiq Raina, Director CAPD Jammu, G.S. Chib, Director CAPD Finance, Joint Controller Legal Metrology, Deputy Controllers, all Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors and of the Jammu division.

 Stressing upon the streamlining of the department, the Minister said that record of every single beneficiary should be maintained properly and there must be total transparency and accountability.

Zulfkar exhorted upon the officers to make changes on ground level as the government will not tolerate any laxity on part of officers  when it comes the convenience of consumers. He added that the officers ensuring prompt services will be encouraged while non performers will be shown the doors.

 The Minister said that officers are the hands of the government and they must deliver on ground to bring constructive changes. He further said that people have big expectations from the Govt. and officers must perform efficiently so that justice is delivered to the people. He also added that those who will be found indulging in corruption and ill practices will be dealt with iron hands

 Zulfkar directed the concerned officers to constitute a committee headed by the Director CAPD, Jammu to work out effective strategy for distribution of food grains and kerosene oil to the needy beneficiaries. He also stated that two food testing Laboratories would be constructed one in Jammu and another in Kashmir division so as to test the quality of ration.

It was also informed in the meeting that Mega Awareness Camp would be held on 19th of May in Zorawar Singh Auditorium by the department in which best performance award will be given to the officials.. 

Minister suspends CAPD Storekeeper in Shalimar

Srinagar,:-Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department hold surprise visits in Srinagar City and outskirts during which a Store Keeper was suspended and enquiry ordered in the shortage of foodgrains in Shalimar area.

The Minister visited various localities of Srinagar city and checked ration depots in Raj Bagh, Shalimar and Nishat area. During the surprise check, Minister suspended Gulzar Ahmed, Store Keeper of Food Store Shalimar where he found shortage of ration. An enquiry was also ordered in this regard.

 Meanwhile Minister has said that the foodgrains supplied to the stores should not be dumped and these must be distributed well before the fixed dates among the consumers. He said that the department will take stern action against those who will show dereliction in duties. ‘I will neither spare those who will dump ration in store nor will tolerate shortages in the store’, he said instructing Director CAPD Kashmir to make regular surprise visits to the stores in order to check proper delivery of ration, LPG gas and K-oil.
