SRINAGAR: Police on Monday arrested an accused who had kidnapped and raped a minor girl in Malangam area of Bandipora in North Kashmir.
Police said a girl aged 15 was kidnapped from her home in Malangam on May 2 and later raped by one Jallal ud din Kallas s/o Karam Din Kalas of Malangam Bandipora.
The police official said that the accused had kidnapped the girl and taken her to an anonymous location where he raped her in the intervening night of 2 and 3 May.
He said the accused, a labourer by profession, is around 21 yrs of age.
The family of the girl has registered an FIR with the victims statement at police station Bandipora and the accused has been arrested and booked under FIR number 50/2016 under section 363/376 RPC. The medical examination of the victim has proved rape, the official said.
Meanwhile, a doctor is under police remand and lodged at police station Sumbal after a woman alleged that he raped her when the accused had gone to meet victims husband at their home, the last week.
A senior police official of Sumbal Police station told Kashmir Life that the investigations are going on into the matter and that the accused is in police custody and the investigation into the matter are going on.
