SRINAGAR: Come May 7, and the Dunoo family of Srinagar will complete its 100 years in Houseboat Hospitality.
Starting its operations in 1916 with a single houseboat, the Dunoo family has come a long way in leaving a mark in hospitality sector and has set new trends and standards for the fellow entrepreneurs.
The countdown to this historical milestone will begin May 5, with celebrations on the Dunoos Island in Nagin lake, where proprietor Abdul Majid Dunoo will launch a book titled Houseboat – the Heritage of Kashmir” penned by himself.
In the book, Mr. Dunoo mentions that the 100-year milestone deserves special honour, because it is precisely in times of struggle and tough economic conditions that bringing people together to support a common cause can be the most meaningful. He further emphasizes upon the need of a moment of pride to come together and celebrate, and this centennial celebrations present that opportunity.
The celebrations will witness the participation from the representatives of The Houseboat Owners Association (HBOA), Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Travel Agents of Society of Kashmir (TASK), Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) and Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Federation (KHROF).
These organizations will be part of the celebration to inspire all travel related personnel to appreciate our houseboat business’ rich past, and to celebrate the present together and create a vibrant and sustainable future.
