SSA employees protests against pending salaries

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday foiled the protest march of All Jammu and Kashmir Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyaan Employees Forum (AJKSSAEF) and detained scores of employees after they tried to move towards commercial hub Lal Chowk.

The SSA employees assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave and were chanting slogans like ‘we want justice’. They were demanding salaries as well as job security.

The protesters earlier told KNS that their salaries are withheld from past three years due to which they are facing immense hardships.

SSA employee said, “Hundreds of SSA employees didn’t receive their salaries from past three years. Despite working with dedication, the government is not releasing our salaries from past three years.”

He said that he is the sole bread earner in the family and due to the withholding of their salaries his family is facing tremendous hardships.

The forum later appealed Education Minister, Nayeem Akhtar to personally intervene into it and release their salaries at earliest.

The protesters later tried to march towards commercial hub Lal Chowk.

Nonetheless, police swung into action and detained scores of its members. (KNS)
