Syed Qaisar Jalali Joins NC


Srinagar: Syed Qaisar Abbas Jalali, grandson of veteran Kashmiri leader and philanthropist Agha Syed Hussain Shah Jalali joined National Conference at an impressive function here on Wednesday.

Party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah and working president Omar Abdullah welcomed Jalali in the NC fold at the Nawai Subah party headquarters.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Farooq said New Delhi and Islamabad should actively work towards opening additional trade and travel routes along the Line of Control. He said there was no alternative to Indo-Pak friendship and cooperation and that terrorism was a common threat to both countries. 

Omar Abdullah was also present on the occasion to welcome the new entrants into the party. Others who joined the party on this occasion include Shabbir Ahmad Mir from Tangmarg and Master Maqbool Ahmed, former District President Budgam for the Congress Party.  

Demanding the opening of additional trade and travel routes across the Line of Control, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said an increased people-to-people contact would be the greatest weapon to defeat terror and those who believed in exploiting sentiments for violence. “Time has come to open the Jammu-Sialkot route for travel and trade. The Kargil-Skardu route should be thrown open and efforts should be made to open every possible route along the Line of Control to connect people on the two sides. 

Senior National Conference leaders including Party General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, Provincial President Kashmir Nasir Aslam Wani, Senior Leader and North Zone President Mohammad Akbar Lone, Central Zone President Ali Mohammad Dar, various other party leaders and legislators were present on the occasion and welcomed the new entrants into the party.
