Locals lock up CD-Block Chittergul

Anantnag:  People of Chittergul Anantnag accused BDO Shangus of attempting to close the CD-Block Chittergul in the district.

Locals told CNS that some people along with few staff member of CD-Block Chittergul entered the office and started loading all the furniture and records into the vehicles. This infuriated locals who staged a massive protest against the Block Development Officer. The Staff member of the Block informed locals that they had orders from BDO Shangus, Anantnag to close this block and bring all the record to Block office Shangus.

“The irritated locals locked up the building of CD-Block and protested against BDO, administration and the government.”

The protesting people said that the CD-Block was allotted to Chittergul by the cabinet in 2014 and BDO Shangus maybe “on the direction of some unknown Influential people is trying to close it which is unfortunate”.

Locals demanded immediate inquiry regarding the matter and immediate transfer of the BDO Shangus and further demanded a separate BDO for CD-Block Chittergul.

The people further sought the intervention of Advisor to Governor Khursheed Ahmad Ganie and DC Anantnag to inquire the matter as why this attempt was made.

A police party from Uttersoo police post pacified the protesters while some of the people who were removing Block furniture were detained for questioning. (CNS)
