It is unfortunate that the police action has created a high degree of fear among Kashmiris living outside J&K. The profiling, harassment and stereotyping of Kashmir students is strongly condemned. In the past also, Kashmiri students have been targeted by local students and extremist groups at various educational institutions across India.
There were cases where Kashmiri youths were picked up but proved innocent after decades of litigation and ultimately lost their entire lives. This unfortunate phenomenon is pushing the Kashmiri youth to the wall, which may further complicate the situation.
Government of India must take immediate measures to bring this practice to halt and ensure safety of Kashmiri youth in every part of the country whether he is a student or businessman.
