Srinagar: Scores of shopkeepers of the Regal Lane in Srinagar Thursday staged protest demonstration against the hike in rent by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).
The protesters assembled at Press Enclave here and raised slogans in favour of their demand. SMC has made a sharp increase in the rent. It will be very difficult for us to pay the amount. The hike is arbitrary. This is injustice, protesters told CNS. The protesters appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter and roll back the hike.
They warned to intensify protests in case their demand is not met. They also urged authorities to disburse rehabilitation amount in favour of flood hit traders of Regal Lane. (CNS)
