DC Anantnag flags-off awareness rally on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

ANANTNAG: A mega rally on celebration of girl child day was organised today by ICDS Project Anantnag under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Programme. The all-women rally was  flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag Muneer-ul-Islam from ICDS project, Sarnal, Anantnag. He was accompanied by ADDC Anantnag, District Programme Officer, ICDS Anantnag and Child Development Project Officer, Anantnag.

The rally comprised of female folk from varied backgrounds including Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, home-makers and school-going girls.The females holding placards depicting the importance of girl child in the society, rallied around many important places of the town like KP Road, General Bus Stand, Khanabal to sensitise the masses about the importance of girl child. Speaking on the occasion, the DC Anantnag said that the main objective of the rally was to generate awareness among common masses regarding the importance of girl child in the society.

He said to correct the dismal low child sex ratio in the district, encouraging and educating the common people about the importance of ‘Beti’ in the society is must and Social Welfare Department has to play a pivotal role in successful implementation of Beti Bacha, Beti Padao programme.
