NYK organises Youth Convention in Srinagar


SRINAGA: Nehru Yuva Kendra(NYK) Sangathan on Wednesday held a youth convention in connection with the 125th Birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar at Nun-Reshi Convention hall SKUAST Shalimar.

During the function resource persons from various government departments gave introduction about various flagship programs of the state and central government.

Vice Chancellor SKUAST Dr Nazir Ahmad was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion he said the aim of such  programs is to educate the youth about various government programs and also sensitize and motivate youth to fight against various social evils prevailing in the society and assume leadership in addressing these issues.

He said the young generation has to come forward and be the leaders of the society and for that they need to be educated and aware about their society. He said such programs help in building an enabling environment and disseminate information on the national flagship programs of the government so that they in turn help the weaker section of society to take advantage of these schemes.

Coordinator of the program Mohammad Khalil also spoke on the occasion.

During the function speakers gave presentations about various schemes including PM Jandan Yojna, Atal Pension Yojna, Aasra Scheme and Swach Bharat Abhiyan

Later, Professor Farooq Ahmad, Dean Horticulture SKUAST flagged off a rally for national unity which was attended by youth including students from various schools.
