SRINAGAR:A district level exhibition/Kisan Mela was held under the chairmanship of Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora at Sumbal today. District Development Commissioner Bandipora was the chief guest while as SDM Sumbal, Joint Director Agriculture Kashmir, SDAOs of Bandipora and Sumbal, other officers besides a number of farmers participated. The department of agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, fisheries, apiculture, KVK, animal husbandry and others had established their stalls in Kisan meal to inspire unemployed youth towards private sector.
Experts from various departments sensitized the farmers about their ongoing schemes. Chief Agriculture Officer said that the farmers of the district were provided two tractors, 5 power tillers, 57 Polygreen houses, 106 pump sprayers, 16 irrigation pumps, 11 vermi-compost units and other kind of machinery to boost the sector. He said that 50 training camps were also organized to make farmers aware about various schemes.
District Development Commissioner after inspecting the stalls in his speech appealed the people to be in close rapport with the experts of agriculture and horticulture department and avail benefits of modern technology. The District Development Commissioner later distributed soil health cards among the farmers.
