SHOPIAN: The District Development Commissioner Shopian today chaired a meeting to review expansion of Srinagar-Qazigund road (Highway 444), connecting six districts of valley including Shopian with the National Highway.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent Engineers, District Officers, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and the officials of the concerned departments. The District Development Commissioner stressed upon the concerned engineers to use their professional skills and work in coordination so that the district gets connected with the highway, thereby make the travel of people easy. The highway is intended to cut short the time and distance of intending travellers as well.
During the meeting the engineers informed the District Development Commissioner about removal of structures along the highway hindering its expansion and raised other concerned issues.
The District Development Commissioner assured them all necessary steps will be taken for the early completion of the highway and assured them of district administration will cooperate with them in this endeavor.
