Srinagar: Residents in Shivpora and Batwara today protested against the CAPD officials for sending insufficient ration to the area, and not adhering to the NFSA.
The residents said that the while the government increased the monthly ration scale to 7 kgs for each registered consumer but the CAPD does not follow its own law.
CAPD officials are not providing us ration as per the new NFSA scale. Last month about 40 families were not given ration at our store, and this month too the supply is short of the target, Riyaz Ahmad, a resident of Shivpora-B told KNS. He said that only 4 kilos were given to the consumers.
The residents refused to take the ration and asked the high up to intervene into the issue.
Similarly, residents in Shivpora-A did not allow the CAPD officials to unload the ration meant for them. We asked the officials to take back the ration as it is not sufficient for us as a number of families are left without ration, the residents told KNS.
The protests were held in Batwara locality also as the residents said that new food law is not acted upon by the CAPD when the government has announced ration as per new scale.
The residents appealed the Divisional Commissioner, Dr Asgar Samoon and Governor N N Vohra for their intervention into the matter. (KNS)
