SRINAGAR:Department of Sericulture on Tuesday started plantation drive in connection with the International Plantation Day.
Commissioner Secretary Agriculture, Mohammad Ashraf Bukhari inaugurated the drive by planting a mulberry sapling at Directorate office here.
Speaking on the occasion Bukhari said planting tree is a best form of charity and that every human should plant a tree to contribute in making the environment green and clean. He said plantation of trees is the only solution to tackle climate change as trees are the natural cleaners of air.
Mr. Bukhari said plantation of Mulbery trees will serve two purposes simultaneously including providing fresh air and will provide opportunity to boost silk industry.
The function was also attended by Director Sericulture Farooq Ahmad Malik and Director Finance Rafiq Ahmad Shah
