Back to back nocturnal raids created panic in Pulwama hamlet


Pulwama: Back to back nocturnal raids from counter insurgent groups created panic in Gosu area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday night.

Locals informed CNS that Special Operation Group team from Pulwama district raided two houses and arrested two persons during the dead of the night. Shortly after the raid, people came out from their houses to inquire about the incident from the families whose houses were raided. “People had assembled at a place to discuss the issue when another SOG team from Cargo Srinagar appeared in the village and raided two more houses, arresting two youth. These nocturnal raids created panic in the area,” the locals said.

They said that a large number of people staged nocturnal demos against the police action in the village while on Monday protesters blocked the road demanding the immediate release of the arrested youth.

A top police official from the district told CNS that two youth arrested by SOG Pulwama were involved in stone-pelting while both the youths arrested by SOG Cargo are affiliated with militant related incidents. (CNS)
