Shopian: Flouting all existing norms local in Shopian district has erected a cowshed in apple orchard even after being asked against doing it by revenue authorities. Interestingly the revenue officials including Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar have allegedly switched sites after stopping the construction mid way initially.
According to KNS, the controversy erupted after a local in Feripora village of Shopian district approached Tehsildar Shopian with a complaint that his neighbor Bashir Ahmad was trying to raise a cowshed in a land adjacent to his apple orchard with an intention to cause damage to his apple trees. Consequently a team of revenue officials headed by Naib Tehsildar visited the site and stopped the construction besides obtaining an undertaking from Bashir Ahmad that he will not proceed with construction any more.
However Mehmooda begum alleged that despite the undertaking he went ahead with the construction of a multi storied building whereas the revenue officials preferred silence over the gross violation of their directives.
The concerned have appealed Divisional commissioner for intervention.
Meanwhile the concerned Naib Tehsildar told KNS that he has submitted the report to Tehsildar Shopian and it was his duty to take a call on dismantling the structure.
The Tehsildar however said that he was written to Deputy Commissioner Shopian about the allegations. (KNS)
