A top police officer Wednesday facilitated the release of few scribes who had been stopped and forced by CRPF who reportedly attempted to use them as human shield against the stone onslaught from the protesters in Goripora hamlet in South Kashmirs Pulwama district.
Shortly after the exchange of fire at Wandakhpora area, few journalists had gone to cover the event, however, due to massive stone-pelting and firing they got trapped in a house. After a brief lull, we tried to escape from the scene but we were stopped by CRPF at Goripora where heavy stone-pelting was going on. CRPF forced us to act as shield. We saved ourselves from every stone coming from the protesters. Sensing trouble, we called SP Pulwama Rayees Ahmed Bhat who facilitated our release, Omar Majid told a local news agency.
