Srinagar: While condemning the continuous detention of Sayed Abdul Rehman Geelani, Hurriyat (G) Secretary General Shabir Ahmad Shah, house detention of Provincial President Nayeem Ahmad Khan and invoking of lawless law PSA against dozens of pro-freedom leaders and activists, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani Tuesdaycalled for peaceful protest demonstration for half an hour after the Friday prayers on 11 March against this.
He said that despite the attempts are being made to frame Prof. SAR Geelani and make him a scapegoat and on the other hand the political activities in the state have been completely banned and the Hurriyat (G) leaders are being held in illegal detentions.
In a statement to KNS from New Delhi, Syed Ali Geelani said that the JNU issue had although completely exposed India infront of the whole world and the registration of sedition charges against the JNU students had also lost its sheen but there are still some apprehensions that the Prof SAR Geelani will be made scapegoat in this case and his detention will be unnecessarily prolonged.
He said that while being a Muslim, SAR Geelani is also a Kashmiri which is his biggest crime and the communal government in India will try to subject him to the vengeance policy. First time he was tried to implicate in the Indian parliament attack case and now he is being framed in a false and baseless case.
Syed Ali Geelani said that the Kashmiri nation will not remain silent over this issue and we will continue to protest till he is released.
While expressing his dismay over the continuous illegal detention of Shabir Ahmad Shah in police station Rajbagh and Nayeem Ahmad Khan at his home, Hurriyat (G) Chairman said that dozens of pro-freedom leaders and activists including Masarat Alam Bhat, Ameer Hamzah Shah, Mir Hafizullah, Abdul Gani Bhat, Mehraj-ud-din Rubbani, Mohammad Amin Parray, Nasir Abdullah, Abdul Hameed Parray, Hakeem Showkat, Assadullah Parray, Zubair Ahmad Turray and Mehraj-ud-din Nandah are in illegal confinement in the name of preventive detentions and they are not being produced before the courts. This kind of imprisonment has no constitutional and legal justifications and it cant be named more than the state hooliganism. All the administrative issues has been handed over to the police and they are using the entire state machinery to suppress the peaceful political voices of the pro-freedom people.
Syed Ali Geelani said that Shabir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Ahmad Khan are being subjected to the vengeance for their unity efforts in the pro-freedom ranks.
Syed Ali Geelani said that the secret agencies of India and the police does not like the unity among the pro-freedom people and they are always working to destabilize the pro-freedom camp in one way or the other. This has been the long-term policy of the Indian policy makers to divide the Kashmiri nation into small groups and then follow the Divide and Rule policy.
Hurriyat (G) Chairman further said that the banning of the political activities in the state will have very serious consequences and it is also increasing the political uncertainty in the region.
While appealing for peaceful protest demonstration for half an hour after the Friday congregational prayers on 11 March, Syed Ali Geelani said that Kashmiri nation is being pushed to the wall under a well thought out plan and this coercive policy will definitely have a strong reaction. We have no option other than to protest and nobody can snatch this democratic right from us.
Hurriyat (G) chairman appealed the people particularly youths to make the peaceful protest demonstration call a success and send a message to the world that the Kashmiris are the peace loving people and their peaceful voices are being suppressed with cruel and oppressive tactics. (KNS)
