Greets on International Women’s Day

Governor N. N. Vohra has conveyed his greetings and good wishes on the occasion of International Women’s Day which is being celebrated on March 8 across the world.

In his message the Governor said on this day the whole world must whole heartedly and joyously celebrate women’s achievements and support and laud all their endeavors. He observed that throughout the country our women, including from Jammu and Kashmir, are achieving successes in every sphere and exhibiting their versatile personalities.

The Governor noted that, considering the theme of International Women’s Day 2016- “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”- every man and woman should take a pledge to contribute towards the achievement of gender parity.

The Governor said that the State and the Central Government have established various welfare schemes which have the objective of promoting their education and empowerment. In this context he emphasized that as we celebrate International Women’s Day let us not forget that the struggle is far from over and the empowerment of women should never be reduced to individual success stories. It should be about their collective growth and well-being, he said.
