Srinagar: Former Minister for Public Works and MLA Amirakadal, Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari today visited Gonikhan market and took stock of the damages caused to the business establishments in a devastating fire incident that took place the other day.
Bukhari was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Abdul Majeed Raina, Joint Commissioner Works, Police and PDD officers. Mohammad Sadiq Baqal, president Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) also accompanied Bukhari.
The former Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner to provide immediate relief to the affected shopkeepers from the Red Cross fund. He also asked the PDD officers to expeditiously replace the low tension conductor wires with insulated aerial bunched cables in order to prevent any such mishap in the future.
Since the affected shopkeepers demanded permission for reconstructing of their damaged shops, Bukhari asked the SMC officers to prepare the permission documents of affected shopkeeper to enable them to start reconstruction work without any delay. The shopkeepers also assured the SMC officers that reconstruction would be as per old plan of the building.
Expressing solidarity with the fire hit shopkeepers, Bukhari assured them of every possible help and also urged them to take precautions for safeguarding their properties from such mishaps. (CNS)
