SRINAGAR: Advisor to Governor, Mr Khurshid Ganai has asked the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department to follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in ensuring clean and safe drinking waterto the people.
Chairing a high level review meeting of PHE officials at Circuit House here the other day, the Advisor said engineers and field staff must adhere to the SOP for regulating and ensuring supply of clean and safe drinking water to the public.
He called for preparing phase-wise projects for provision of filtration plants for such schemes which dont have the filtration plants. Ganai said that the augmentation of the financial resources should be done under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP).
In order to address water scarcity issues in Srinagar, the Advisor directed PHE officials to create move a proposal for creation of another PHE division for Srinagar city.
The Advisor directed officials that funds for Bumza and Tangnar Water Supply Schemes should be released on priority and remaining works of Sukhnag water supply scheme should be also completed immediately.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, PHE, Ghulam Muhammad Bhat, Executive Engineer, Bilal Rasool, SE, Hydrolic Circe Latief Ahmad Malik among other senior officers of the department.
