Baramulla: Government forces Thursday claimed to have arrested a Pakistani militant affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militant in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police identified the arrested militant as Muhammad Sadiq Gujjar, 17 son of Walid Muhammad Gujjar a resident of Sialkot Daska in Pakistan and according to them Gujjar had carried out an attack three months back on an army camp in Kupwara district and he was accompanied by three associates who were killed in the November attack.

DIG Baramulla Gareeb Das said that after receiving inputs about his presence, a special team along with Army nabbed him from Baramulla district. However reliable sources informed local news agency CNS that a special team from Baramulla arrested Gujjar from Srinagar city. Police however didn’t confirm it. Gareeb Das said during the questioning the arrested militant claimed that he was part of the Uri attack where he set an oil depot inside the army camp on fire and destroyed several vehicles before he was ordered by his colleagues to leave.  He said more arrests are expected in the district.
