SRINAGAR:  Police Wednesday foiled a protest march of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and detained scores of separatist leaders when they hit to streets demanding mortal remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru who are buried inside Tihar Jail in New Delhi.

Eyewitnesses told CNS that scores of JKLF activists led by Noor Muhammad Kalwal appeared in Saraibala area after police had sealed all the exit and entry points leading towards city centre Lal Chowk where the organization was mulling to hold the protest march.

The protesters carrying banners and placards depicting the photographs of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guroo raised pro-freedom slogans. Police swung into action and detained over a dozen leaders of the outfit.

Pertinently, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik is in judicial custody and lodged in Srinagar Central Jail. (CNS)
