Jammu: Chief Secretary, B R Sharma Thursday asked Deputy Commissioners to ensure that all 1.25 crore citizens of the state receive their Aadhaar cards at the earliest.
He was informed that some 68 hundred thousand Adhaar Cards have so far been delivered.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary also reviewed NPR status with direction to all DCs to complete the NPR updating on the NPR Portal.
Earlier, Secretary IT briefed the Chief Secretary about the status of Aadhaar penetration in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the total Aadhaar penetration as on 2nd February 2016 stood at 55% of the total population of the State, as per the Census 2011. He said till date record of 88% citizens of the state have been digitized by the census department besides out of the total Aadhaar enrolment of 85 Lakh citizens, over 68 lakh citizens have been provided Aadhaar cards by 2nd February and the process of covering the remaining has been expedited.
