Traders shut shops to protest against flood relief denial

Srinagar:  Traders in Lal Chowk and some other markets of City on Tuesday observed a complete shutdown on the call of a faction of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) over flood relief compensation.

Shops and business establishments were closed since early morning across Lal Chowk, Jahangir Chowk, Qamarvari and in Batamaloo. The strike call was given Baqal faction of KTMF over the demand of flood relief compensation to trade community affected by floods in September 2014.

Reports informed GNS that there was a significant impact of shutdown throughout the Lal Chowk as all the shops were closed. The commercial activities in other parts of Valley however were unaffected as other trade bodies had not supported the call.
