To highlight their agonies, artists to hold road show

SRINAGAR: Flaying the present stale of Doordarshan’s present functioning, the artists on Monday accused that the authorities at the station continue to take them for ride, turning blind eye towards the agonies they face every day.

The artist fraternity led by a local actor Hassan Director told KNS that they have resolved to conduct a road show at Srinagar’s press enclave so that the hardships faced by the Kashmir based TV artists could be highlighted and the inaction of the DD authorities could be unmasked.

He said that repeated telecasts in DD Kashir have become order of the day and no new assignments are provided to the artists and people associated with the field. Javed added that the payments of around 450 artists including the writers, Singers, actors and directors is pending with the DD and no heed is being paid to the repeated pleas for disbursing such amounts.

Meanwhile, the artists holding the road show at Press Enclave on Tuesday include veteran actor Zameer Ashai, Shabir Hakak, Qazi Faiz, Hassan Javed, Javed Gura, Arif Zeeshan, Jahangeer Farash and several others. (KNS)
