SRINAGAR: Prof Neelofar Khan has taken over as the first woman Dean College Development Council (DCDC) of the University of Kashmir. She replaced Prof GM Shah whose term as DCDC ended.
Prof Neelofar, who has served the University in various capacities, holds the distinction of being the varsitys first woman Dean Students Welfare.
A doctorate in Home Sciences from the University, Prof Neelofar has been a two-time member of the University Council, the varsitys highest decision-making body. She has also served as Dean, Applied Sciences and Technology, Head of Home Sciences Department, Director of Womens Studies Centre at the University of Kashmir and has been a member of many prestigious associations including the Home Science Association of India (HSAI), Nutrition Society of India (NSI), National Alliance of Womens Organization (NAWO) and All Indian Womens Association (IWA).
Meanwhile, Prof Fayaz Ahmad from Department of Zoology has taken over as new Dean Students Welfare of the University of Kashmir. He replaced Prof Neelofar Khan.
