Anantnag:- Worried about the dilapidated condition of road between Moominabad Anantnag to village Kammad, the residents have appealed the concerned authorities to maintain the road to avoid agitation.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, Hussain Ahmad a resident of this area said that the actual breadth of this road was 50mts when it was constructed, but this time its breadth has been reduced to 15mts because people have occupied the road and constructed their houses. This encroachment is going on from past some years in our area he added. He further said that we requested higher authorities several times to take a necessary action against the culprits but the department is in deep slumber and our request falls on deaf ears.
However other residents of this area said that the contractors got the fake bills realized for patching this road in 2013. In 2014 the R&B Department again started patch work but the road is still full of potholes.
At least five villages are connected by this road. Due to pathetic condition of the road, students, employees and also patients face immense hardships to reach their respective destinations. Meanwhile residents also alleged that the officials of concerned department started work in 2015 on said road but unfortunately, works has been stopped due to unknown reasons and concerned officials are not directing the contractors to expedite the construction work on this road.
