Depression among Adolescents: How it can be prevented?

The cases regarding suicides are increasing at an alarming rate among the teen adolescents and therefore parents somehow are responsible for the increasing toll of suicidal attempts of their respective wards. It isa high time that parents need to involve themselves by scratching deep into the matter and trying to understand the root cause that why their wards chose the path that leads them nowhere but to commit a suicide.

There are many factors responsible  that likely contribute to teen adolescent suicides and one of the major factors is the growing depression among the teens.

The trigger points causing them depression is the unwanted feeling they get from their parents who give more preference to work over their children.Therefore, the teen adolescents rely on the affection of fake relationships, drugs, gambling and what not and unfortunately they fall a prey to all these hazardous things.

Everyday there is a news we all get to hear about the rising teen adolescent suicides and parents need to be an eye opener and start friendly counselling with their wards in order to save their life from getting entrapped.

According to a research 90% of suicidal teen adolescents believed that their families did not understand them and about 75% of these people who commit suicide are both physically and mentally depressed.

Parents need to play a vital role in upbringing and boosting the self confidence of their wards at this crucial teen stage.Parents need to act more friendly rather than being harsh towards their wards.

Depression affects the mental and physical behaviour of an individual of any age depending upon the circumstances which he/she is living in and teens more likely experience the highest depression morbidity.

The World Health Organization(WHO )calls depression to be on number 2 among the list of most urgent problems in the world. Its a most prominent case to be seen on large scale in South asian countries.

Depression leads to suicides and moreover depression correlates with schizophrenia. According to various studies  it can be even more cumbersome to figure out schizophrenic disorder among the teens and the major schizophrenic disorders found among the teen adolescents are delusions, hallucinations and dementia.

Schizophrenia distracts and disrupts the daily-life actvities,it disrupts the overall behaviour of an individual resulting in lack of enthusiasm, lack of connecting with the world, lack of facial expression, lack of conversation and lack of mental health.T eens with schizophrenic disorder have the highest probability of attempting suicide and a call of suicide or any threat from such patients should be taken as a very careful thought.

Their is another disorder that resembles with the negative aspects of schizophrenic patient; its called as Post-TraumaticStressdisorder(PTSD). PTSD results from experiencing traumas that jolt ones mental stability for instance, an accident, molestation, rape, or any type of unbearable assualt. 

Adolescence is a stage that comes with a drop down of many emotions among the teens such as real-life sinking emotions, social life sinking emotions, relationship sinking emotions that start accompanying the adolescents at this stage of their life. when things dont work according to the moods of teens and experience a setback of emotions from both family, friends, school,college it often results in suicidal attempts.

Teens should engage themselves in day to day activities they enjoy ;they should make healthy friendships that benefit them, play sports, listen to music, focus on positive activities, positive conversations and not involving themselves in any kind of negative thoughts or any negative impact on their mental health.

The parents of teens also  need to guide their children and overcome their shortcomings by lending them a helping hand and the right time counseling can do wonders  for them. It can bring them back on the right track and boost their courage to face the world positively once again.
