J&K Bank defeats Air India 4-2

Lucknow: The thrilling final match of All India Super Sports Society Cup between J&K Bank and Air India resulted in a tie breaker situation in which J&K Bank emerged as winners. In absence of Minister of Agriculture, State Speaker Surinder Singh was the Chief Guest on the occasion and distributed the total cash awards of ?2 lacs and trophies among the teams. Sports Society Members, Media personals and amid crowd witnessed the match.

Both the teams were unable to open the score though the game was played in full momentum from end to end. After the 90 mins of play match was decided in tie breaker in which J&K Bank converted 4 out of 5 kick whereas Air India scored only 2. Shabir Ahmed Goalkeeper of J&K Bank was adjudged the best goalkeeper and Prem Kumar was given Man of the Match with a cash award of ?5 thousand each.

It is not out of place to mention here that J&K Bank team played this tournament in absence of their top 7 players who are assigned with the responsibilities of representing State Team in upcoming Santosh Trophy. J&K Bank Team during this Tournamnet defeated professional teams like SAIL Bokaro in quarterfinals Deccan Rovers in semifinals and Air India in the final.

Chairman Sports Board Mr Surjeet Singh Sehgal, Vice Chairman Sports Board Mr Roshan Khayal and Secretary Mr Showkat Khanyari congratulated the entire team and Management over phone for their applaudable performance.
