Panic in Hajin: Traffic disrupted after road caves in

BANDIPORA: Panic gripped Hajin town of North Kashmir’s  Bandipora district on Friday after the inhabitants noticed a roadside starting caving in.

Eyewitnesses told CNS that that the road at Sheikh Mohalla was slowly caving in disrupting vehicular movement for several hours.

“A patch of road around 100 metre of length breached at Sheikh Mohalla that created panic among locals. The breach destroyed the main road in the village,” said a local adding that after September 2014 floods there are many instances when the river Bund breached in Hajan area.

Locals alleged that the team of experts and officials visited the area a couple of times to take stock of the situation but did nothing to protect the bund from breaching”.

Meanwhile, a team of experts rushed to spot to assess the ground situation. They collected samples for testing and advised people to take precautionary measures.

Congress leader from the area Imtiyaz Ahmed Parrey alleged that administration did not take any steps though they were repeatedly informed by locals about the slow sinking of the said road. (CNS)
