JammuWith an aim to groom young talent of the state, J&K Bank launched a three-day on-field programme for the selection of 16 talented football players for its Jammu Football Academy on Wednesday at GGM Science College Football Ground Jammu.
The selection committee after analyzing participants skills had short listed 26 probables for the 2nd round of the trials. The trials were conducted under the supervision of Chairman of J&K Bank Sports Board Mr. Surjeet Singh Sehgal.
The players from Jammu division during the friendly matches showed their potential and made better use of the conditions.
To refurbish the game, the participants were made to play friendly matches with the players selected for Under 19 State team which is to participate in the National Championship for Dr. B.C.Roy Trophy to be held at Bilaspur Chattisgarh from 30th January 2016.
The amount of talent which has emerged during the trials thus far is really encouraging given the fact that football in Jammu & Kashmir did see turbulence during the recent past, a statement said.
The standard of football of the State is on the rise which was yet again evident during the trials for selection of players for J&K Bank Academy.
The selected players will be part of Jammu wing of J&K Bank Football Academy for a period of 3 years were they will not only gain the experience but will get stipend of Rs 1,500 per month and they [players] will be provided the equipments, it added.
Overall, sixty five young football players participated in the trials. Out of the 26 probables shortlisted, final team of 16 players will be selected after the end of 3 days selection process which will conclude on Friday.
However, the football enthusiasts had hailed the efforts of J&K Bank, for being a premier financial institution of the Jammu and Kashmir State in catching the raw young talent to groom them in a professional manner in the State.
