JAMMU: In order to review security arrangements ahead of the Republic Day (RD) Celebrations, to be held in winter capital, a high level meeting was convened at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today.
The meeting was chaired by Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar, besides senior officers from police, civil administration, intelligence and central para-military forces were also present.
Rajendra sought reports from the participants about the status of security arrangements and deployment plan, put in place for smooth and peaceful conduct of state level function at MAM Stadium here on 26th January and at all district headquarters of Jammu Province.
Senior officers representing different security agencies briefed the meeting, about the security measures taken to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful conduct of RD functions in the province. They also briefed about the security arrangements made for the state level Republic Day Parade to be held at Jammu.
Stressing on better coordination among all sister agencies and the civil administration, Mr. Rajendra said that to foil any attempt by trouble makers to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere, close liaison should be maintained at every level and the officers supervising different components should be briefed accordingly. He asked the officers to convene meetings with each other to share inputs without any hesitation. A comprehensive security grid and deployment mechanism for peaceful celebrations needs to be formulated, he added.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held with regard to deployment plan, law and order and security apparatus.
It was informed that sufficient man power has been earmarked for the security of the venues, where the RD functions are scheduled to be held. Installation of CCTV cameras and security gadgets at the venues, intelligence gathering and preventive measures to check the activities of anti-national elements were also discussed.
Rajendra emphasised upon the officers to coordinate with each other and keep available required manpower for the celebrations without affecting the routine law and order duties. He said coordination among different agencies should be ensured at grass root level to make the arrangement more effective.
The DGP also asked for smooth traffic arrangements during the celebrations particularly on the routes leading to the venues of functions besides parking slots should be identified so that people participating in these functions do not face any inconvenience.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADsGP, SP Vaid, Navin Agerwal and Dilbag Singh, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IsGP, AG Mir, MS Salaria, Yoginder Koul, Danish Rana, Jagjit Kumar and Viplav Kumar, IG BSF Jammu, Rakesh Sharma, IG CRPF Jammu, Kuldeep Dhar, DIsGP, AK Atri, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, Ali Mohammad and Nisar Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simran Jeet Singh, AIsGP, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, and Tahir Sajad, all District Superintendents of Police and Commandants of Armed and IRP Bns.
