Srinagar: Over 61,000 new voters under the age of 20 years have been added in Jammu and Kashmir, as the total number of adults who can exercise their franchise touched 73,14,497 in the state.
“During special summary revision of photo electoral cards, a total of 1,73,611 new voters were added, out of which 61,359 are in the age group of 18 to 19,” Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of J&K, Shantmanu said while releasing the Final Publication of Electoral Roll here yesterday.
The CEO said that the final electoral roll is 73,75,063, out of which 38,64,996 are men, 35,10,009 women and 58 are of third gender.
The CEO added that during summary revision, total deletions are 1,13,045, total modifications are 81,519 and total transpositions are 6,399.
Shantmanu congratulated the new voters for the enrolment and said that the EPIC cards will be issued to all the new voters free of cost.
He thanked the election machinery including district election officers, electoral registration officers, assistant electoral registration officers, BLOs, NIC and other agencies involved in summary revision.
