SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court quashed the detention order of separatist Muslim League leader Asadullah Parrey under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
Parrey, a close aide of Masrat Aalam and Muslim League District President for Bandipora District was had been arrested in August 2015 for allegedly waving Pakistani flags. He was booked under PSA and was shifted to Udhampur Jail.
A single bench of Justice M.H. Attar quashed the PSA order of the state government under which Parrey has been detained. Justice Attar quashed the PSA order after listening to the arguments of the counsel of detained leader Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak and Public Prosecutor Sajad Ahmed Mir.
Advocate Tak said that despite the quashing of the order, Parrey has still been lodged in Udhampur Jail.
Meanwhile, Muslim League spokesperson Muhammad Rafiq Ganaie condemned the re-arresting of Assadullah Parrey and Masrat Aalam. Aalma had been sent to judicial remand till January 5 while Parrey is still languishing in Udhampur Jail. We condemn the continuous detention of these two leaders, he said.
