Srinagar: Police on Tuesday arrested seven burglars and recovered stolen goods worth lakhs in Sopore town of north Kashmirs Baramulla district.
A police official said that acting against the growing incidents of burglaries in Town Sopore and adjacent areas, the joint efforts were made by Police Station Sopore and Tarzoo under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore Abdul Qayoom and SDPO Sopore Mohammad Shafiq.
The night patrolling and Nakas were intensified in Sopore town and Tarzoo-Amargarh areas, he said. During the patrolling, a suspicious Sumo was found parking near Sopore Hospital along with two persons.
The duo was questioned and their movement and other activities were analyzed from their CDRs and a big gang of burglars was unearthed, besides the theft cases vide FIR No. 69/2015 of P/S Dangiwacha, 70/2015 of P/S Bomai and 139/2015 of P/S Tarzoo were also solved, the official said.
The Burglars have been apprehended by different teams of Police Station Sopore and Tarzoo headed by SHO P/S Sopore and SHO P/S Tarzoo. The apprehended burglars were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Cheechi S/O Mir Mohammad R/O Lar Ganderbal and Gh. Hassan Bhat S/O Gh. Mohammad Bhat R/O Gund Jahangeer, Aijaz Ahmad Wani S/O Ab. Majid R/O Lar Ganderbal, Ahmad Bhat S/O Mohammad Bhat R/O Tarzoo Sopore, Gh. Hassan Cheechi S/O Naik Mohammad R/O Lar Ganderbal, Nazir Ahmad Khan S/O Gh. Rasool Khan R/O Lar Ganderbal and Aqib Ahmad Dar S/O Bashir Ahmad Dar R/O Manz Seer Sopore.
A huge quantity of woollen suits (15 Nos.) Ladies Suits ( 40 Nos.), Men Suits worth about one lakh, copper utensils worth lakh, Mobile Phones, Solar Lights, Batteries etc have been recovered from burglars after raiding different place of the valley, the official added.
