Body recovered after firing in Bandipora

Srinagar: Police and army have recovered body of an unknown person, suspected to be a militant, near Saderkote Balla area of Ajas in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.

Reports said that army’s 13 RR and SOG launched cordon-and-search operation in dense bushes of Doodhwan area of Saderkote Balla around 3:30 pm.

“Few gunshots were heard in the area around 4:15 pm. However, it was not immediately known whether there was any firing from the militant’s side,” they said.

“Later in the evening, the joint team of forces recovered the body of an unknown person at Doodhwan”.

Meanwhile, a police officer while confirming the incident said that a brief gunfight broke out in the area.

 

“So far an unknown militant has been killed and search operation in the area is going on”, he said. (GNS)
