Srinagar: The Department of Posts is organising the 45th Universal Postal Letter Writing Competition for school-going children on January 03, 2016.
The topic for the competition will be Write a letter to your 45-year-old self, and the competition will be held simultaneously in Srinagar, Baramulla, Udhampur, Rajouri and Jammu districts of the state.
The competition will be of one hour duration and will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on the said date.
The letters written as part of the competition should not exceed 1000 words in length.
The first prize for the competition will be a cash prize of Rs 5000, while those who stand second and third will stand to win Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. A consolation prize of Rs 1000 will also be given to the best entry from each circle, besides certificates to all the winners. The best entry at the National level shall qualify as the official Indian entry for the International Competition.
The intending participants can write in English or any language listed in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India.
Those who wish to participate should be under the age of 15 and should submit their applications in duplicate with three photographs duly attested by the principal/head of the institution. The applications should be countersigned by the head of the educational institution.
The last date for submission of completed applications in the prescribed format is December 21, 2015. The applications may be addressed to Asst Director Postal Services, (Welfare & Sports), Office of the Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle, Srinagar, 190001.
