SRINAGAR The Government has allocated Rs 21,000 crore for Ladakh region for various projects, under the Prime Minister Narendra Modis 80,000 crore package for the state.
Official sources said that out of the 80,000 crore package, Rs 21000 crore has been sanctioned to the Lakakah Region. The money will be utilized in the developments of the region and the prime focus will be on an all-weather road to the region which generally remains cut off from the rest of the country for almost six months, one of the government officials said.
He said that the power sector in the Ladkah is another key area that will be given a boost. The package has also made an allocation for the much-awaited 375-km Leh-Kargil-Srinagar Transmission System,
The official said that the government is also constructing tunnel between Baltal and Minamarg to provide an all-weather road between Srinagar, and Leh.
He added that to ensure round-the-clock power supply and harness solar power in the Ladakh region which has the potential of producing 111-GW electricity, Rs 1800 crore has been sanctioned for the 375-km Leh-Kargil-Srinagar transmission line.
The Prime Minister had laid foundation stone of the transmission line on August 12 this year.
Meanwhile while talking to KNS over phone the CEC Ladkah hill development council Sonam Dara said that we are thankful to the government of India to allot such package. It is grateful that focus has been laid on Ladakh for better road connectivity and power supply. But I must say that the package is not enough. We will be approaching the state and the central government for more packages to rebuild the infrastructure in the flood-hit Leh district.
