SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon today convened a meeting of officers to review the preparation of making a revised master plan for Srinagar city.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam, Director School Education, VC LAWDA, Director Floriculture, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, Chief Town Planner Iftikhar Hakeem, and officers of other concerned departments.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the HODs of all the departments to furnish details to the Chief Town Planner regarding the existing projects, Projects in pipeline and future plans for next 20 years. Various departments informed the Div Com that they have already submitted the information while some departments including Forest, Wildlife, Soil Conservation and education said they will submit the details within a weeks time.
Samoon said the Master plan should be a vision document for next two decades for the development of the city and should improve the quality of life of the people.
He said the flood of 2014 has given them the opportunity to correct the mistakes which have been done in previous master plan. He asked the officers to have a brain storming session with the Chief town Planner so that the Master Plan is documented keeping in view the aspirations of all the departments.
Samoon further said that Chief Town Planner will have a presentation of the Master Plan which will be attended by all HODs. He hoped that Srinagar city will be developed as a knowledge hub backed by horticulture industry in next two decades.
