Srinagar: A team of Vigilance on Thursday raided the Civil Public Health Engineering (PHE) Division office in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and seized some important documents.
Sources said the raid was conducted after the Vigilance received complaints about illegal appointments in the Division. “The Division office has reportedly employed some people illegally even as there was no need,” they said.
They said the PHE Division office was also under scanner over some works it carried out in its jurisdiction. “Those works were not upto mark. There were loopholes and much carelessness was shown while carrying out the works which included fitting pipes,” the sources said.
Earlier, a probe committee was also formed by government to investigate the complaints and today the raid was carried out. “It was already expected that the Vigilance would carry out raid,” the sources added.
