Flood Politics
Srinagar: A day after PDP accused National Conference of misusing flood relief for electoral gains in Srinagar, flood victims from Rainawari locality said that both PDP and NC were playing politics over the issue while the vast population have been left at the mercy of God.
A delegation from Rainawari and its adjacent areas including Naidyar, Hasanabad and Khawjayarbal who lost their houses and belongings in 2014 floods told CNS that it is unfair to target those flood victims who got a meagre relief from the government after suffering so much loss.
We have been accused of fraud and it has been said that even minors from our areas have obtained relief cheques. If it is true, then the names should be made public. Playing politics on the issue will not help the flood victims, the delegation said.
Hundreds of families were given relief cheques and we are grateful to the Revenue officials but at the same time we appeal to political leaders not to defame us for petty politics, they said and appealed government to take measures to rehabilitate the flood victims without any delay.
