PULWAMA: The Motor Vehicle Department of Jammu & Kashmir launched web based Vahan 4.0 at ARTOs office on Pilot basis, here today.
Commissioner Secretary, Transport, Mr. Kifayat Hussian Rizvi along with Transport Commissioner, Mr. Parvez Iqbal inaugurated Vahan Version 4.0.
Speaking on the occasion, the Transport Commissioner said that in the earlier version of Vahan, vehicular data was required to be entered manually, adding that in newer version data with regard to only fewer vehicular parameters viz chassis number, engine number, name and address of the owner, manufacturers name and model of the vehicle are required to be entered. He further said once information on the said parameters is fed into the data base, remaining information pertaining to a particular vehicle such as un-laden weight, seating capacity, length of the vehicle, width, height, wheel base etc will automatically be generated from central server, as data pertaining to all newly manufactured vehicles in the country has already been made available there.
It was informed that one of the main features of the application is that it checks double registration of vehicles that may be registered in any other part of the state or the country. This would prevent evasion of taxes at the place where the vehicle has been originally registered.
Scientist-D NIC J&K, Mr. Rakesh Gupta, SSP Pulwama, ADC Pulwama Mr. Shahbaz Mirza, ACR, ARTO Pulwama Khadim Hussian and other district officers were present on the occasion.
