At KU, Kazakh Envoy Highlights Historical, Cultural Relations with Kashmir

SRINAGAR:Kashmir University’s Centre of Central Asian Studies (CCAS) on Thursday organized an interaction session with the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in India, Bulat Saresenbayev.

During the interaction, the Ambassador highlighted the age-old historical and cultural relations between Kashmir and Kazakhstan, a varsity statement said this evening.

He also mentioned the current relations between India and Kazakhstan and highlighted the potential of future relations between the two regions.

“The Ambassador expressed happiness over visiting Kashmir and hoped to build relations between Kashmir University and the universities of Kazakhstan. He also highlighted the scope of pilgrim tourism between Kashmir and Kazakhstan,” the statement said.

In his welcome address, Director CCAS, Prof G N Khaki presented an overview of research conducted by the CCAS on Central Asia, especially Kazakhstan.

The session was attended by faculty members from various departments of Kashmir University and was followed by a question-answer session.

Earlier on 18th of November, 2015, the Ambassador had a detailed discussion with Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, in which areas of mutual cooperation were discussed.
