SRINAGAR: In a recent study conducted by The Economic Times in partnership with Futurescape and IIM Udaipur, for “The Best Companies for CSR”, HDFC Bank finished among the Top 25 companies in India, out of 214 partic¬ipating organisations.
The study is based on the examina¬tion of Corporate Social Responsibil¬ity (CSR) reports such as Global Re¬porting Initiative (GRI), Business Re¬sponsibility Reports (BRR), as well as publicly disclosed information online
and via annual reports. The study ranked companies on the basis of four criteria: governance (weightage: 20%); disclosures (10%); stakeholders (35%); sustainability (35%). Companies are ranked on their focus on CSR and sustainability by creating a combined score that weighs each of the four parameters.
HDFC Bank is the highest rated Bank in the list and is among the only two Banks in the top 50. With a spend of more than INR 100 crore in the last financial year, HDFC Bank has established itself as one of the leading organisations for CSR in the country.
