PULWAMA: Horticulture is the back bone of States economy and our state is the largest producer of apple but preserving it for longer period is the main contention for horticulture department and fruit growers. In this connection, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hussain Samoon visited Ifresh Kewah Pvt. Ltd. IGC Lassipora Pulwama today. He was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Mr. Niraj Kumar and two post-harvest experts cum scientist from USA, Mr. Robert and Mr. Nazir Ahmad Mir.
The main purposes of the visit was to bring more competitiveness for post-harvest management and to bring at par with postharvest technology of USA and other Apple producing and preserving European countries.
Mr. Samoon took overall assessment of the Ifresh Kewah Post harvest management techniques of apple preserving and suggested some improvised innovative measures for better post-harvest management.
Earlier Mr. Imran who is the owner of Ifresh Kewah Pvt. Ltd. apprised them about specialized characteristics of Ifresh Kewah plant like 5 thousand MT grading of apples and sought their intervention for further improvement.
Later Mr. Samoon along with two foreign experts and two scientists from SKUAST interacted with a gathering of fruit growers. He gave a patient hearing to the issues of fruit growers and promised redressal.
