Srinagar: The Army today observed 68th Budgam Day commemorating the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives saving Srinagar from the Pakistani marauders in 1947.
In a solemn ceremony at the Budgam War Memorial, Maj Gen Arvind Dutta Victor Force Commander and other Army personnel including the veterans and civil dignitaries from Budgam District paid their homage to the gallant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the motherland. Wreaths were also laid on behalf of Chinar Corps and Northern Army Commanders.
Saluting the people of Budgam for their constructive role in 1947 War against Pakistani raiders, Major General Arvind Dutta said that it were the brave people of Budgam who helped the Army to repulse the invasion.
